You’re living with persistent pain, but no one can tell you why (or you’re given multiple diagnoses). Your tests say everything’s “normal,” but your pain is real—and it’s affecting every part of your life. You’re exhausted, frustrated, anxious, and starting to wonder if there’s a better way — you’re right, there are other opportunities you haven’t been told, to change your pain.
Does this sound like you?
- You’ve tried physiotherapy, massage, chiropractic care... but nothing seems to stick.
- You deal with things like digestive issues, migraines, jaw pain, sleep problems, pelvic pain—or all of the above.
- You’ve been diagnosed with (or suspect) conditions like fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, autoimmune disorders, endometriosis, IBS, or myofascial pain syndrome.
- You may have a history of trauma, PTSD, or chronic stress that you suspect may be linked to your body’s pain.
- You avoid movement or activity because you're afraid it’ll make things worse.
If you’re nodding your head to any of this - you’re not alone, you’re not imagining it, and there is a better way!
At Healthy Balance Physiotherapy & Wellness, we understand the profound impact that persistent pain can have on your daily life. Our Persistent Pain Program is evidence-based, and designed to provide compassionate, individualized care to help you navigate and alleviate chronic pain and get you back to living the life you deserve.
Introducing: The Persistent Pain Program
The Persistent Pain Program offers personalized, one-on-one virtual sessions with our trauma-informed physiotherapist, who is also trained in counselling and Somatic Experiencing® Therapy. This holistic approach addresses not only the physical aspects of pain but also the emotional and psychological factors that contribute to your experience.
Bottom-Up Approach: SE™ focuses on the body's response to trauma rather than directly addressing the traumatic memories, which can be a more gentle and less overwhelming approach for some individuals.
What to Expect:
- Comprehensive Assessment: We begin with a thorough evaluation, including questionnaires, to understand your unique pain experience and develop an optimal, individualized treatment plan.
- Integrated Treatment Techniques: Our approach combines traditional physiotherapy interventions with complementary methods such as Somatic Experiencing® to promote nervous system regulation and overall well-being.
- Educational Empowerment: We provide you with knowledge and tools to understand your pain, empowering you to take control of your health journey.
- Safe and Supportive Environment: All sessions are conducted virtually, allowing you to receive care in the comfort and privacy of your own home. This setting fosters a safe space to explore and address the challenges of living with persistent pain.
- Collaborative Care: Our empathetic practitioner listens attentively, understands the complexities of chronic pain, and works collaboratively with you to achieve your goals.
Sessions are provided virtually, and available to all Ontario residents (so let ‘Aunt Julie’ up in Thunder Bay know about our program too).
Benefits of Virtual Therapy:
Virtual physiotherapy offers numerous advantages, particularly for individuals dealing with persistent pain:
- Convenience and Accessibility: Receive expert care without the need to travel, saving time and reducing the physical strain associated with attending in-person appointments.
- Comfortable Environment: Engaging in therapy from your own home can enhance relaxation and openness, contributing to more effective sessions.
- Flexible Scheduling: Virtual sessions provide greater flexibility, making it easier to integrate therapy into your daily routine.
- Continuity of Care: Access to consistent, ongoing support regardless of geographic location or mobility limitations.
Sessions are billable under physiotherapy and covered by most extended health insurance plans (check your individual plan for information).
